How to write a cleaning invoice
A clear invoice gets paid faster and avoids “what was this for?” emails. Whether you clean homes, offices or end-of-tenancy properties, include:
- Your details: business name, address, email and phone.
- An invoice number and dates: invoice date and a clear due date.
- Who and where: the client's name and the address you cleaned, if different.
- Each service on its own line: the clean, plus extras like ovens, carpets or inside windows.
- Tax, if it applies: VAT in the UK if you're registered, or sales tax where required in the US.
- How to pay: bank details, card link or accepted methods, and the reference to use.
Tips to get paid on time
- Send the invoice the same day as the clean, while the client is happy.
- Attach before & after photos — proof of the work cuts disputes over the bill.
- Use short payment terms (7–14 days) and follow up the day after the due date.
