A turnover clean has to be fast, consistent and visible to a host who usually isn't there. The checklist below covers the clean itself, restocking and the checks that stop a bad review — and the photos that show the host it was done.
On arrival
- Photograph each room as you find it — damage or missing items are easier to report with a photo.
- Open windows, start the laundry, empty bins and the dishwasher.
- Check for left-behind items and report them to the host.
Bedrooms
- Strip and remake beds with fresh linen; check mattress protectors.
- Dust surfaces, lamps and headboards; check under beds.
- Wardrobes empty, hangers in place.
- Vacuum or mop floors.
Bathrooms
- Toilet, shower, bath, sink and mirrors cleaned and dried.
- Hair removed from drains and floors.
- Fresh towels set out the way the host likes them.
- Restock toilet paper, soap, shampoo and conditioner.
Kitchen and living areas
- Dishes washed and put away; fridge emptied of guest food.
- Hob, microwave, kettle and coffee machine cleaned.
- Surfaces, table and remote controls wiped.
- Restock coffee, tea, dishwasher tablets and bin bags.
- Sofa cushions straightened, floors vacuumed and mopped.
Final checks
- Wi-Fi card, house manual and keys in place.
- Heating and lights set; windows closed and locked.
- After photos of every room, from the same angles as on arrival.
Why hosts love photo proof
Hosts can't inspect every turnover. A short report with before and after photos — stamped with the date, time and address — shows the property was ready, records any damage left by the previous guest, and builds the trust that keeps you on their cleaning rota.
